Practical information about our husky dog sledding tour
On our dog sledding tours our mushers will be driving and controlling the sleds and team of huskies that will take you into the beautiful landscape of Kvaløya. With a maximum of 8 guests per tour you get a personal and authentic experience. For some of our guests it actually feels like a private husky dog sledding tour.
Please note that this is not a self-drive tour. Our mushers will drive you and the dogs into the wild.
If there is not enough snow and the conditions allow it the experience is offered using our wheeled wagons.
Important: This is an outdoor winter activity in the Arctic. Our guides will drive the sled and make it a safe experience, but we still require a basic level of fitness to balance and move in the snowy surroundings. We cannot recommend pregnant women or people with back pain and heart problems to join due to the risk.
Your adventure starts in front of the entrance Radisson Blu Hotel in Tromsø City Centre. Please be there 10 minutes prior departure time. From here our bus driver will take you on a scenic 45 minutes' drive to our kennel on Kvaløya.
Departure times: 07.45 AM & 12:15 PM.
Important: If you are driving to the kennel with your own car please arrive at 08:30 AM and 13:00 PM and no earlier, as our staff needs to be ready to greet you.
When you arrive to our kennel we provide you with a warm suit and arctic boots. Please dress warm from home with wool and/or fleece. You need to bring a warm hat, gloves and a scarf/buff. It will be colder than you think - also for your feet!
When you are all dressed up it is time to meet our furry friends! We will drive you to the sledding location, where our mushers will harness and set up the teams. We will split you in 2 groups of 4. While one group is sledding the other group is served treats and stories in the lavvu!
During the tour we will serve you something warm to drink and a sweet snack that you can enjoy while asking our experienced mushers questions and listening to stories. We have many to tell!
When you are full of cuddles and stories our driver will drive you back to Radisson Blu Hotel in Tromsø. You will be back in Tromsø City Centre at approx. 12:00 PM and 16:30 PM depending on conditions.
Our tours last approx. 4 hours.
Included: Transport, experienced guide that will lead the way on the trail, sledding, warm clothing, arctic boots, hot drinks, sweet snacks and of course lots of cuddles and storytelling!

Experience the magic of dog sledding in Tromsø with us. We are a small husky kennel located on beautiful Kvaløya in Northern Norway. With around 50 huskies and a maximum of just 8 guests per tour, we offer a personal and intimate way to experience the Arctic winter.
Our dog sledding tours are about more than simply riding a sled. They are about meeting the dogs, discovering the landscape and experiencing the Arctic at a slower pace.
A personal husky experience
We keep our groups deliberately small. With a maximum of 8 guests, our guides have time to get to know you, answer your questions and share stories about our dogs and life at the kennel.
We believe that a small group creates a more private feeling and allows you to become part of the magical experience.
Our guides drive the sleds, allowing you to sit back, enjoy the scenery and spend your time taking in the experience with all of your senses.
The sled ride includes a stop along the trail where there is time to take photographs and enjoy the surroundings.
Experience our beautiful home
Kvaløya offers beautiful landscapes. Snow-covered mountains, open valleys and quiet Arctic surroundings create a spectacular setting for a husky tour in Tromsø.
As the dogs move through the snow, you can experience the landscape from the sled without the noise and crowds of a large group. The sound of the huskies, the movement of the sled and the surrounding winter wilderness become part of the adventure.
You might even spot a moose or reindeer!
Meet our 50 huskies
At the heart of every dog sledding tour are our dogs. Our kennel is home to around 50 huskies, each with their own personality and place within the team. They are our family. Our colleagues.
We care deeply about our dogs and consider their wellbeing an essential part of the experience. Keeping our tours small helps us create a calmer environment and gives us the opportunity to focus on both our guests and our huskies.
For us, responsible dog sledding means that the dogs should enjoy what they do too.
